Guitar effects and multi-effects.

About Digitech

Digitech has been building guitar effects since 1984, earning a reputation for pitch-shifting technology that competitors still chase. Based in Utah, the company pioneered the original Whammy pedal in 1989, a staple on boards from Tom Morello to Jack White. In 2013, Digitech revived the DOD brand, bringing back classic circuits from the '70s and '80s alongside new designs. The result is a catalog that spans vintage-voiced overdrives, polyphonic pitch shifters, and creative tools like the FreqOut feedback generator. Digitech pedals are built for players who want specific sounds without menu diving.

Pitch Shifting and Polyphonic Effects

The Whammy line remains Digitech's flagship. The Whammy 5 offers two-octave pitch bends and dive bombs with MIDI control for preset recall. The Drop pedal handles polyphonic drop tuning from one semitone to a full octave without latency, letting you access lower tunings on a standard-tuned guitar. The Mosaic creates a convincing 12-string shimmer by layering octaves and fifths. These pedals use Digitech's polyphonic tracking, which means full chords stay intact without glitching. The HammerOn adds intelligent pitch shifting that responds to your playing dynamics, bending notes based on how hard you strike the strings.

DOD Overdrive and Distortion

The DOD Overdrive Preamp 250 reissue delivers the same JFET circuit that defined hard rock tones in the '70s. It's a straightforward gain box with a single tone control and enough output to slam an amp's front end. The Looking Glass takes a different approach with a Class-A FET design that adds harmonic richness without compression. For heavier sounds, the Boneshaker includes a three-band semi-parametric EQ that lets you scoop mids or boost specific frequencies. The Gunslinger uses MOSFET clipping for a tighter, more aggressive distortion suited to palm-muted riffs.

Modulation, Delay, and Utility

The Rubberneck is a bucket-brigade analog delay with tap tempo, modulation, and a rubberneck feature that lets you manipulate repeats in real time by twisting the time knob. The Carcosa Fuzz offers silicon fuzz with a bias control that shifts from gated sputters to sustained leads. The Compressor 280 uses optical compression for transparent dynamics control, while the Phasor 201 delivers vintage phase shifting with adjustable speed and depth. The Meatbox generates subharmonic bass tones an octave below your input, useful for thickening low-end or creating synth-like rumble.
