Description
The DOD Overdrive Preamp 250 50th Anniversary Edition marks 50 years since DOD was founded in Salt Lake City in 1974. It is hand-built in the USA with through-hole components and a socketed LM741 op amp, and DOD is making only 1,974 units. The Gain and Level controls use the original potentiometer values and tapers.
A three-way toggle adds two modes to the original sound. Silicon mode reproduces the original 250. Ge/ASYM uses a vintage germanium diode for asymmetrical, even-harmonic clipping. Lift removes diode clipping for a clean boost, or a dirty boost as the LM741 clips at higher gain. The pedal has a metal flake gray finish with yellow graphics, a matching neon yellow-green LED and a serial-numbered certificate of authenticity.
