Description
The DOD Overdrive Preamp 250-X is the tenth version of the DOD 250 overdrive. It keeps the Gain and Level controls of the original and adds a three-way toggle with three clipping modes, covering clean boost, light grit and heavy distortion.
Silicon mode uses symmetrical clipping for the classic 250 sound. Asym uses asymmetrical clipping for an even-harmonic drive. Lift removes the clipping diodes for a clean boost at moderate settings, or a dirty boost as the vintage-style LM741 op amp clips at higher gain. The pedal has an aluminum chassis and weighs 255 g, and the circuit accepts supplies up to 18V.
