Description
The Korg Minilogue XD is a four-voice polyphonic synthesizer that pairs an analog signal path with a digital multi-engine for hybrid sound design. Each voice has two analog VCOs plus a third digital oscillator that provides noise generation, VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) synthesis, and a user-programmable slot. A joystick replaces the Minilogue's pitch wheel for real-time modulation, and the effects section is significantly expanded.
Hybrid Sound Engine
Two analog VCOs per voice produce sawtooth, triangle, and square waveforms with wave shaping. The third oscillator is a digital multi-engine offering three modes: a noise generator with filtering, a VPM oscillator for metallic and FM-style tones, and a user slot that loads custom oscillators built with the logue SDK. The multi-engine opens up timbral territory that pure analog cannot reach.
Effects
Three effect slots run simultaneously: modulation (chorus, ensemble, phaser, flanger), delay (stereo, cross, tape), and reverb (hall, plate, space, and more). User-programmable effect slots can load custom algorithms built with the logue SDK.
Sequencer & Modulation
A 16-step polyphonic sequencer with motion recording captures knob movements as per-step automation. The joystick provides real-time X/Y modulation during performance. Two CV inputs on the rear panel accept external modulation from Eurorack and other modular gear.
