Description
The Tascam Model 12 is a compact all-in-one production workstation combining a 10-input analog mixer, 12-track multitrack recorder, USB audio interface, and DAW controller. Built for music producers, podcasters, live performers, and content creators, it delivers studio-quality recording directly to SD card while offering hands-on mixing with Ultra HDDA mic preamps, per-channel compression, 3-band EQ, and built-in effects.
Mixer
Ten input channels provide flexible connectivity for microphones, instruments, and line sources. Channels 1-8 feature Ultra HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) preamps with individually switchable +48V phantom power, a single-knob compressor, and 3-band EQ with sweepable mid. Channels 1-2 include Hi-Z instrument inputs and insert points. A dedicated TRRS smartphone input with mix-minus makes the Model 12 podcast-ready out of the box.
Multitrack Recorder
The internal recorder captures up to 12 tracks (10 inputs plus stereo mix) simultaneously in WAV format at up to 48 kHz/24-bit directly to SD, SDHC, or SDXC cards up to 512 GB. Punch-in/out, overdubbing, and track import/export are all supported, and recorded WAV files can be transferred to a DAW for further editing.
USB Audio Interface and DAW Control
Connected via USB, the Model 12 functions as a 12-in/10-out audio interface compatible with Windows, macOS, and iOS/iPadOS. A three-position input selector (Live/PC/MTR) on each channel enables quick source switching. Integrated DAW control provides tactile transport and mixing functions so you can leave the mouse aside.
