The Best Guitars Have Scars

RealTele is built around the guitar that started it all - the world's first mass-produced solid-body electric. Seven decades on, its voice is still unmistakable: bright, open, and articulate, with a snap and bite nothing else quite matches. Muddy Waters brought it to the blues. Keith Richards made it the backbone of rock. That character is exactly what we set out to capture.

We recorded it as a living instrument - no cherry-picked takes, no sanitized polish: string buzz, a percussive attack, and the raw detail that separates an instrument with a story from one that only sounds technically correct. Twelve velocity layers per fret. A middle-position tone captured as real pickup interaction, not two signals summed digitally. Every detail that separates realistic from real.

Two Sides of a Legend

RealTele ships as two distinct instruments grown from the same iconic design - effectively two guitars in one. One is built for air and character, the other for focus and weight. Between them they cover almost everything this guitar can do, from vintage sparkle to dense, modern drive.

RealTele Classic is the golden-era voice: an open, ringing top end, that signature bridge-pickup snap, and the slightly scooped midrange that gave the guitar its clarity. This is country twang and chicken pickin', classic blues, and the rock 'n' roll of the '50s through the '70s - the sound behind half the history of popular music. Expressive and dynamic, built to stand out in a track.

RealTele Modern is the same guitar reworked for contemporary production. The top end is smoother, the low mids fuller, the response tighter and more controlled - but the character stays fully intact. Under high gain it stays articulate and composed; on clean parts it sits rounder and calmer. This is the version for rock, pop, and heavier genres - for parts that need to lock into a dense mix, where focus matters more than openness.

What Makes RealTele Different

12 sample layers per fret. Every fret is recorded in 12 dynamic layers, from the lightest touch to hard-picked notes - a wide, smooth dynamic range that follows your playing closely.

Dynamics you control. The Velo tab shows exactly which layer is playing at any moment. The default velocity curve is linear, spreading your playing evenly across the full range. And you can switch off the hardest-picked (Hard) or quietest (Soft) layers - separately for solo, strums, mutes, and palm mutes - for exactly the response the part needs.

A real middle position. Both single-coil pickups are sampled on their own, as always - but on a physical Telecaster, switching them on together isn't a simple sum of the two: they interact and reshape each other's character. So we captured the middle (Both) position as its own pickup combination, giving you a tone that stands as its own color rather than a digital blend.

Tone knob - just like on a physical guitar. A high-frequency filter that smooths the top end. Because it sits before the effects chain, it shapes tone the way a real guitar's tone control would - a denser voice on high-gain presets, a softer edge on clean ones.

New strumming engine. RealTele uses our new strumming engine, first introduced in RealGMS - delivering smoother chord transitions, more convincing timing between strings, and a feel that responds naturally to your playing.

Where RealTele Fits

You play keys, not guitar. The track needs real electric guitar and there's no guitarist. You want to play the part yourself, from the keyboard, and have it sound like a Telecaster - not a keyboard pretending to be one.

You write and produce in the DAW. Songs, demos, cues. You want a credible guitar part fast: built from chord symbols and rhythm patterns, or played straight in and left as editable MIDI.

You perform live. On stage, solo or in a band, you want guitar parts in real time - the iconic stage guitar under your fingers, with no second player to hire.

You work in the Telecaster's genres. Country and Americana, blues and rock'n'roll on the vintage side; classic and indie rock, pop, modern high-gain on the other. RealTele gives you both ends: Classic for the vintage voice, Modern for contemporary production.

You play guitar. You reach for it anyway: to lay a part down faster than you can mic one, when your hands can't keep up with the idea, when the track needs a Tele you don't own, or when you want a clean take every time.

Preset Library

The raw guitar is only half the sound - the other half is the amp and effects, and dialing those in is a rabbit hole even for guitarists. That's what our preset library is for: 350 ready tones voiced after the legendary players and records that shaped popular music, each a complete rig (amp, cabinet and effects) you can call up in a single click - and it keeps growing. Nothing is a black box: every parameter stays open, so a preset is either your finished sound or the starting point for your own. We recommend to use open-source Guitarix.vst virtual guitar amp (included with RealTele installation) as a robust and versatile solution to use these presets. Techniques and control

An authentic sounding guitar part cannot be recorded by using samples on their own, but requires a bunch of guitar-specific techniques, which are simulated in RealTele. Whether you are playing live or programming a DAW, these techniques are controllable by using special gestures, key switches, key velocity, modulation wheel, sustain pedal, key aftertouch, MIDI CC, DAW parameter automation, and any combinations of these.

Chord voicing

Guitar chord voicing is very unique depending on guitar construction and is absolutely necessary to reproduce in order to achieve authentically sounding chordal parts. Our patented technology provides accurate reproduction of guitar chord voicing automatically for 30 chord types in all existing inversions, extensions and alterations.

Rhythm Patterns

In order to record an authentic accompaniment track, most session guitarists carefully study characteristic rhythm parts for the required style. We created a huge rhythm library consisting of 1,250 patterns. It can be easily used for quickly creating guitar accompaniment parts in the DAW or in our internal Song sequencer.

Realism

Sophisticated humanization algorithms vary samples, technique and control parameters, timing, and chord strum aspects to reach the best possible realism in guitar tracks. That helps you bring a digitally simulated guitar performance maximally close to an analog recording of a best-in-class session guitarist.
