Description
The Heritage Audio MOTORCITY EQ is a mono 7-band passive graphic equalizer copied from Motown's Hitsville units, using Michael Brauer's originals as the reference. It is not a slider graphic: seven stepped rotary switches cut or boost ±8 dB in 1 dB steps at 50 Hz, 130 Hz, 320 Hz, 800 Hz, 2 kHz, 5 kHz, and 12.5 kHz, with a matching ±8 dB output gain switch.
Passive Circuit
Twenty-one inductors and twenty-one tone capacitors (three per band) are made for Heritage Audio to 1% of Brauer's values. A UTC-replica input transformer uses a modified turns ratio for modern line levels. The original Opamp-labs output is replaced with a Carnhill-driven line amp. In/Out/Off, a jewel lamp, and General Radio-style bakelite knobs sit on a 10-gauge brushed aluminum panel. Rear panel is XLR in/out and a power-supply jack.
