Description
The Heritage Audio BritStrip is a 1U analog channel strip that combines a three-gain-stage 73 mic preamp, an expanded 73 inductor EQ, a Class A JFET DI, and the diode-bridge compressor from the Successor. Carnhill transformers at input and output, 80 dB of gain, and EQ/compressor routing make it a complete tracking path in one rack space.
Preamp and DI
The mic preamp is the same Class A 73 circuit used in the 73JR II, with a custom Carnhill St Ives input transformer, 80 dB of gain, a 20 dB pad, polarity reverse, and 1200 Ω / 300 Ω impedance switching. The DI sits ahead of the mic transformer and includes a passive thru for feeding an amp at the same time.
Equalizer and Compressor
The EQ uses three Vinkor pot-core inductors in the mid band and high-pass filter, with high and low shelves that can switch into bell mode. The compressor is the Successor's diode-bridge design: blend control, five sidechain filter options, an external sidechain input, and link for two units in stereo. EQ can sit before or after the compressor so the detector hears either the shaped or the unshaped signal.
