Description
The Dynaudio Acoustics M1 MkII is a compact passive nearfield monitor for music and post-production engineers who work at high volume for long sessions. Two 18 cm MSP woofers and an Esotar 3 soft dome tweeter reach 122 dB at 2 meters with a stereo pair, and each driver handles 1000 W transients. It runs from an external power amplifier, with 250 to 500 W per channel recommended.
Made for Long Sessions at Volume
Dynaudio built the M1 MkII out of a long research project into what engineers need when they monitor loud for hours. The Esotar 3 tweeter and the magnesium silicate polymer (MSP) woofers keep the sound field accurate and cut listening fatigue over a full day, with distortion held to 1% at 90 dB. A self-resetting fuse in the passive crossover protects the tweeter against long-term overload.
Setup
The M1 MkII is meant to sit on stands just in front of the console or workstation. It can also go on a sturdy meter bridge or be flush-mounted in a wall, which raises its low-frequency output. Dynaudio recommends a listening distance of 1 to 3 meters. Gold screw-down 4 mm binding posts take the speaker cable, no cabling is supplied, and Dynaudio pairs the speaker with its DA20, DA40 and DCA800 amplifiers.
