About Sonoris Audio Engineering

Sonoris Audio Engineering is a Netherlands-based developer founded in 2004 by Pieter Stenekes. The company name comes from 'sonorous', meaning full, rich sound. Before starting Sonoris, Stenekes worked at Philips in Amsterdam and began his plugin development writing tools for the SAWStudio DAW. Today, Sonoris is known for two things: DDP Creator, an affordable standalone application for authoring Red Book CD and vinyl masters outside a DAW, and a line of high-precision mastering plugins used in professional mastering studios worldwide. This is a small, single-founder operation building tools that solve specific mastering workflow problems.

DDP Authoring and Playback

DDP Creator is Sonoris's flagship application. It exports DDP 2.0 filesets for CD replication plants and includes a dedicated vinyl mastering mode. You can assemble a Red Book CD master with PQ codes, ISRC, CD-Text, and all the metadata a plant needs, then deliver a DDP fileset instead of burning physical reference discs. DDP Creator comes in Standard and Pro editions. DDP Player is a separate utility for auditioning DDP filesets before delivery. Mastering Plugins

Sonoris makes four mastering-focused plugins. The Mastering Equalizer uses a backward-forward filtering technique that applies IIR filters in linear-phase mode, an unusual approach that avoids the pre-ringing typical of FIR-based linear EQs. The Parallel Equalizer runs mid-side processing with separate frequency bands. The Mastering Compressor and Multiband Compressor handle dynamics with precision metering and low-coloration designs. These plugins are built for the final stage of a project, where transparency and surgical control matter more than character. Sonoris Dither rounds out the lineup for bit-depth reduction.
