Collection: Roland (Software)

Legendary Roland synths and drum machines, now in software.

About Roland

Roland Corporation has been shaping electronic music since Ikutaro Kakehashi founded the company in Osaka in 1972. The Hamamatsu-based manufacturer built the instruments that defined entire genres: the TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines, the TB-303 bass synthesizer, the JUNO and JUPITER synth lines. Roland Cloud brings those classics into your DAW as software, using Analog Circuit Behavior modeling to recreate the original circuits. These aren't generic emulations licensed to a third party. Roland owns the hardware designs and the software versions.

Roland Cloud Platform

Roland Cloud launched in 2018 as a subscription service for plug-in instruments and effects. You can subscribe to Core, Pro, or Ultimate tiers for ongoing access, or buy individual titles outright as Lifetime Keys. The platform includes ACB recreations of vintage Roland gear, the ZEN-Core-based ZENOLOGY synthesizer, sound packs, and wave expansions. ZENOLOGY itself ships in three versions: a free Lite edition, a standard tier, and ZENOLOGY Pro with the full synthesis engine that powers the JUPITER-X and FANTOM hardware.

Classic Drum Machines and Synthesizers

The Drum Machine Collection bundles the TR-808, TR-909, TR-606, TR-707, and TR-727 in one package. The Analog Monosynth Collection includes the SH-101, SYSTEM-100, SH-2, TB-303, and PROMARS. The Analog Polysynth Collection covers the JUNO-106 and JUPITER-8. Each instrument uses ACB modeling to capture the behavior of the original analog circuits, down to component drift and filter response. If you've worked with the hardware, the software versions respond the same way under your hands.

Digital Synths and Effects

Roland's digital synthesizers get the same treatment. The Digital Polysynth Collection includes the D-50, JD-800, JV-1080, and XV-5080. The Vintage FX Collection recreates Roland's studio effects. Individual titles like the RE-201 Space Echo, JC-120 Jazz Chorus, and JUNO-60 Chorus are available separately. The EARTH Piano and EARTH Electric Piano instruments, announced in November 2025, bring acoustic and electric piano modeling to the platform. EARTH Electric Piano covers nineteen electric piano types; EARTH Piano offers seven acoustic models.
