Newfangled Audio is an Astoria, New York developer founded in 2015 by Dan Gillespie, former lead DSP engineer at Eventide. The company builds mixing, mastering, and synthesis plugins that fuse conventional DSP with psychoacoustic auditory models and machine learning. Elevate, the flagship mastering limiter, models the human ear's frequency response to deliver transparent loudness. EQuivocate applies the same auditory science to equalization, using Mel-scale filter bands instead of fixed-frequency shelves. On the synthesis side, Pendulate and Generate apply chaos theory to oscillator design, creating evolving timbres that traditional subtractive engines can't match. Mastering and Dynamics

Elevate is a mastering limiter built on an auditory model of the human ear. Instead of fixed-frequency bands, it splits the signal into 26 auditory filter bands that mirror how your ear perceives loudness across the spectrum. You get transparent level maximization without the pumping or harshness that plagues traditional brick-wall limiters. Punctuate is a transient shaper that preserves punch in dense mixes. Saturate adds harmonic richness with multi-band saturation algorithms. The Elevate Bundle packages all three with EQuivocate for a complete mastering chain. Invigorate is a multiband compressor and limiter that applies the same auditory-model approach to dynamics control across the frequency spectrum.

Equalization

EQuivocate is an equalizer that replaces traditional fixed-frequency bands with Mel-scale auditory filters. The Mel scale maps frequency to perceived pitch, so each band corresponds to how your ear actually hears tonal balance. You make fewer corrective moves because the bands align with the way listeners perceive the mix. It's faster for surgical cuts and musical boosts alike. The plugin also includes adaptive EQ modes that respond to the input signal, adjusting gain dynamically to maintain tonal balance as the mix evolves.

Synthesis

Generate and Pendulate are polysynths driven by chaos theory. Generate uses five chaos generators per voice to create evolving waveforms that shift in timbre without repeating. Pendulate models a chaotic double pendulum, translating its motion into audio-rate modulation. Both synths produce organic movement and complex harmonic content that subtractive oscillators can't replicate. You get evolving pads, aggressive leads, and textured basses without stacking dozens of modulation routings. Recirculate is a delay and reverb plugin that applies chaos algorithms to feedback paths, creating unpredictable spatial effects that evolve over time.
