About Canare

Canare Electric was founded in Japan in 1970 and has spent five decades making the cable and connectors that broadcast trucks, post houses and touring rigs are wired with. The company is best known for two things: the L-4E6S star quad microphone cable, whose four-conductor geometry cancels induced hum, and true 75 ohm BNC crimp plugs with a snap-lock center pin that installers can fit in seconds with the matching die. In Canada Canare comes through SFM, so what we list as in stock ships from their Montreal warehouse.

Microphone and Multichannel Cable

The bulk spools are the heart of this collection. L-4E6S is the standard 6 mm star quad, on 100 m, 200 m and 305 m spools in black, and L-4E5C is the slim 4.8 mm version for lavalier runs and tight rack wiring. L-2T2S is the two-conductor braided cable for general microphone and patch cord work, L-2E5 is its miniature relative, and L-2B2AT is the thin foil-shielded hookup wire for console harnesses, in grey or black. For snakes and studio tie lines there are MR202-12AT, MR202-24AT and MR202-32AT multipair spools, each channel foil shielded with a drain wire and colour-coded inner jacket. The GS-6 oxygen-free copper instrument cable and the 4S11 four-conductor star quad speaker cable round out the audio side.

Video Coax

Canare's 75 ohm coax runs from the LV-61S, an RG-59 equivalent that is their best-selling cable, and the double-shielded LV-77S, through the L-CHD Super Coax series for 3G-SDI (L-2.5CHD and L-4.5CHD) to the L-5.5CUHD Ultra Coax that carries 12G-SDI 4K UHD to 100 m on a single link. The L-5.5CUHWS is the high-flex version for camera and mobile use. Spools come in 153 m, 200 m and 300 m lengths.

BNC, DIN and Audio Connectors

Every cable above has a matching crimp plug. The BCP-D series (D33UHD, D55UHD, D55UHW, D8UHD) is the 12G-SDI connector for the CUHD cables, the BCP-B series (B51F, B53, B5F) covers 3G-SDI on L-5CFB, L-5CFW and L-4.5CHD, and the BCP-A4 and BCP-A77 terminate LV-61S and LV-77S. The DCP-C25HD is the DIN 1.0/2.3 plug for L-2.5CHD in high density routers. Panel work is covered by the BCJ-BPLHA right angle PCB receptacle, the BCJ-JK 12G-SDI extension adapter, the BJ-JRUD 50 ohm flush-mount receptacle with a Neutrik D flange, and the FJ-FPC F-type board receptacle. The F-12 is the 3.5 mm TRS plug, and the FCS015A-FR is a 1.5 m hybrid fiber receptacle fantail for camera wall boxes.

Boots and Patchbay Adapters

CB02, CB04 and CB05A strain relief boots slip over the rear of the BNC plugs and are stocked in black, blue, brown, green, grey, orange, red and yellow so channels can be colour-coded at the panel. For Canare video patchbays, the BCJ-MVP converts a BNC female to a mini-WECO plug for the 32MD mid-size bays and the BCJ-VWP does the same for standard WECO on the DV series.
