Studio mics and headphones from Vienna.

About Austrian Audio

Austrian Audio emerged in 2017 when a group of former AKG engineers decided to continue Vienna's legacy of precision microphone design. Based in the city that gave us decades of studio standards, they build microphones and headphones using the same tooling, expertise, and obsessive attention to capsule design that defined classic Austrian engineering. Their OC818 condenser mic carries forward the dual-capsule technology AKG pioneered, while their Hi-X series headphones apply that same acoustic rigor to monitoring. Every product ships from Vienna with specs that reflect decades of R&D in one of Europe's most demanding audio markets.

OC Series Condenser Microphones

The OC818 and OC18 condensers use Austrian Audio's CKR12 capsule, a large-diaphragm design that delivers the clarity and transient response Vienna mics are known for. The OC818 offers switchable polar patterns and an onboard high-pass filter, making it a versatile choice for vocals, acoustic instruments, and drum overheads. The OC18 strips it down to a cardioid-only configuration at a lower price point. Both mics handle high SPL without distortion, and their self-noise specs sit well below what you'd expect in this price range. These aren't budget condensers. They're studio tools built to the standards of microphones that cost twice as much.

CC8 Small-Diaphragm Condenser

The CC8 uses a smaller capsule for tighter pattern control and faster transient response. It's designed for hi-hat, snare, acoustic guitar, and any source where you need precise stereo imaging or rejection of off-axis sound. Austrian Audio includes multiple capsule configurations in the box, so you can switch between cardioid, hypercardioid, and omnidirectional patterns depending on the session. The CC8 handles the same SPL as the OC series and maintains low self-noise even in quiet recording environments. Pair two for stereo miking or use them as spot mics in a larger drum setup.

Hi-X Series Headphones

Austrian Audio's Hi-X55, Hi-X65, and Hi-X15 headphones apply the same acoustic engineering principles they use in microphone design. The Hi-X65 is their flagship closed-back model, built for mixing and critical listening with a flat frequency response and high isolation. The Hi-X55 offers an open-back design for a more natural soundstage during tracking and editing. Both models use 44mm drivers and deliver detail across the frequency spectrum without hyped bass or scooped mids. The Hi-X15 is a more affordable closed-back option for tracking and general studio use. All three models are built in Austria with replaceable parts and a fit designed for long sessions.
