Roland JUPITER-08 Boutique synthesizer with K-25m keyboard dock

Roland JUPITER-08 and N/VISION: A Boutique JUPITER-8 and a Wavetable Synth (2026)

The Roland JUPITER-08 and Roland N/VISION are $699.99 CAD each. They are two new Roland Boutique synths for producers and players who want hands-on synthesis in an instrument small enough to take anywhere. The JUPITER-08 brings back the sound of Roland's early-1980s JUPITER-8, and the N/VISION builds evolving pads and leads from wavetables.

JUPITER-08: the JUPITER-8 at Boutique size

Roland made the JUPITER-08 to mark 45 years of the JUPITER-8, the analog polysynth that inspired it. Its colorful front panel is based on the original, and refined pitch fluctuation and voice allocation give chords the animated, vintage character of the JUPITER-8.

For a retro feel, you can set the synth to an architecture inspired by the original. For modern playing, an advanced polyphony mode gives you up to 32 voices. Dual mode layers two sounds, and split mode lets you play a bass with your left hand and a pad with your right. A Hold function keeps notes sounding while your hands move to the sliders.

N/VISION: a new wavetable synth

The N/VISION is an all-new Boutique design. Roland based it on the sound and workflow of 1980s wavetable synthesizers and built it with its latest technology. Each of its two parts blends two wavetable layers, which you shape into evolving pads, aggressive leads and complex timbres. It plays up to 56 voices, and dual and split modes let you layer the two parts or give each one its own side of the keyboard.

Several modulation sources can move the wavetable position, the balance between the two layers, the pitch and the shaping. You also get a step LFO, envelope modulation and motion recording. A wave shaper adds new harmonics through nonlinear processing, and a spread control widens the sound in stereo.

Filtering pairs a drive-enhanced analog-modeling filter with filter models inspired by classic synthesizers. Quick changes happen on the front panel, and the deeper sound design tools sit in the menus for when a patch needs more work.

What both synths share

Each synth comes with Roland's K-25m keyboard dock in the box, and the K-25m alone sells for $169.99 CAD at Blackout Audio. A built-in speaker and four included AA batteries make either one a complete instrument you can play away from a desk, and USB-C can power it too.

Both use the same effects section. An MFX engine holds 17 effect types, including chorus, and a dedicated delay and a reverb with five types sit alongside it. The reverb's shimmer mode adds an octave-shifted color to the current reverb type.

On both, a two-part, 64-step polyphonic sequencer holds up to eight notes per step and has motion recording. An arpeggio function turns held notes into evolving patterns. In the studio, USB-C doubles as an audio and MIDI interface for your computer, traditional MIDI In and Out connect your other hardware, and an external clock input keeps the synth in time with analog gear.

JUPITER-08 or N/VISION

The two synths share a size, a price, the effects, the sequencer and the connections. Here is where they differ.

Feature JUPITER-08 N/VISION
Inspired by The early-1980s JUPITER-8 1980s wavetable synthesizers
Sound JUPITER-8 character with refined pitch fluctuation Two blended wavetable layers per part, with a wave shaper
Polyphony Up to 32 voices Up to 56 voices
Side panels Silver White
Weight with K-25m and batteries 1.6 kg 1.7 kg

Get the JUPITER-08 if you want the JUPITER-8 sound and its colorful panel in a synth you can carry. The N/VISION suits you better if you like building sounds from scratch and want textures that keep changing as they play.

Orders over $199 CAD ship free across Canada, so either synth ships free.

Other Roland Boutique synths

The JX-08 and JD-08 are $599.99 CAD each, $100 less than the new synths, and come as modules without a keyboard. The JX-08 recreates the JX-8P with 20 voices, and the JD-08 recreates the JD-800 with 128-voice polyphony.

Roland recommends the DK-01 Boutique Dock ($109.99 CAD) as the accessory for both new synths. It is a docking case and tilt stand for Boutique modules that holds the synth at one of two angles or flat on a desk.
