Description
The Warm Audio WA-47 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone designed to deliver the tonal characteristics of the classic U47. Nine polar patterns, selectable from the external power supply, provide versatility from close-up vocals to distant room sounds. At its core is a custom K47-style capsule (WA-47-B-80V) with dual gold-sputtered, 6-micron Mylar diaphragms, paired with a JJ 5751 vacuum tube and a TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA output transformer. The result is a smooth, uncompressed high end with strong, warm low frequencies across vocals, acoustic instruments, drums, brass, and strings.
The JJ 5751 vacuum tube is a low-gain, low-noise valve that forces more of the sonic character of the capsule and transformer to be heard, producing the rich midrange warmth and deep bass that defined the original 47-style microphones. The K47-style capsule (WA-47-B-80V) is manufactured in Australia with the same hole pattern and frequency response characteristics as the vintage original, using 6-micron gold-sputtered NOS Mylar on a single-backplate, dual-diaphragm assembly.
The TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA output transformer uses large-core imported German laminations to deliver the creamy top end and full bass that engineers expect from a 47-style microphone. The WA-47 circuit uses WIMA film capacitors, a Solen French capacitor on the output, and a polystyrene coupling capacitor. The 5-meter Gotham GAC-7 seven-pin cable provides reliable, low-noise signal transfer between the microphone and external power supply.
