Warm Audio Warmdrive Overdrive Pedal

The Warm Audio Warmdrive is a recreation of a celebrated "amp-in-a-box" overdrive circuit that delivers the smooth, touch-sensitive breakup of a legendary boutique amplifier. The circuit pairs 2N7000 MOSFETs with a NE5532 op-amp, 1N34A germanium diodes, and Schottky BAT41 diodes to produce tones ranging from silky, clean-channel warmth through sustain-rich distortion.

The key to the Warmdrive's versatility is its dual-filter tone architecture. The Voice control shapes the frequency content before the signal reaches the clipping stage, adjusting which frequencies are driven into saturation. The Tone control shapes the signal after clipping. This two-point EQ interaction means that adjusting Voice can dramatically shift the overall character from dark and smooth to bright and cutting, while Tone fine-tunes the top end independently. The result is a pedal that adapts to both single-coil and humbucker pickups without needing separate settings for each. At low gain, the Warmdrive acts as a transparent boost; at higher settings, it produces thick, chewy overdrive with the dynamic feel of a tube amplifier responding to pick attack and guitar volume.
