Description
The Warm Audio WA-CX24 is a large-diaphragm stereo tube condenser microphone that faithfully recreates one of the most iconic vintage stereo mics ever produced. It features two independently rotating, all-brass CK12-style capsules with 180-degree rotation, a premium 12AY7 vacuum tube, and two TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA T14 output transformers. Each capsule has its own 9-position polar pattern selector on the power supply, enabling XY, Blumlein, mid-side, and custom stereo recording configurations with phase-coherent results. The WA-CX24 excels on drum overheads, stereo piano, acoustic guitars, orchestral sessions, and room recordings.
The two CK12-style capsules are mounted on the same body and can be independently rotated through 180 degrees, allowing engineers to set precise stereo angles without repositioning the microphone stand. Each capsule has its own dedicated T14 AMI transformer and its own 9-position polar pattern selector on the external power supply, so different patterns can be assigned to the upper and lower capsules simultaneously. This enables recording techniques that would otherwise require two separate microphones and careful alignment.
The all-brass, edge-terminated CK12-style capsules share the same construction and tonal character as those in the WA-CX12, providing the natural midrange and smooth top end associated with classic Austrian microphones. The 12AY7 vacuum tube delivers warmth without excessive coloration, and the dual AMI transformers maintain the balanced, open sound across both channels.
