Description
The Warm Audio Warm Bender is a Tone Bender-style fuzz pedal that houses three selectable circuits built from NOS germanium transistors. Two circuits recreate the most iconic versions of the British Tone Bender fuzz, while a third silicon circuit offers a tighter, more modern voicing.
The NOS 76 setting is a 2-transistor circuit pairing an OC76 with an SFT337 germanium transistor. It delivers aggressive fuzz with raw grit and sharp attack, replicating the original silver-and-black Tone Bender's cutting, present tone that cleans up well with guitar volume. The NOS 75 setting switches to a 3-transistor circuit using three OC75 germanium transistors, producing the warmer, bass-rich fuzz of the Mark II Professional design with thunderous low end and smooth, wooly saturation. The Silicon setting uses a proprietary 3-transistor topology for a tighter, more compressed distortion-like voicing with extended sustain. Each transistor is hand-tested to tight tolerances for consistent performance. The SAG switch starves the supply voltage from 9V to 6V, adding touch-sensitive compression and "dying battery" sag across all three circuits.
