Description
The Warm Audio WA-67 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone that recreates the smooth, creamy tone of the classic U67. Powered by an EF86 pentode tube and built around a custom all-brass K67-style capsule with a nickel-plated brass body, the WA-67 delivers rich vocal recordings with detailed midrange and a naturally smooth top end. Three switchable polar patterns, a -10 dB pad, and an 80 Hz high-pass filter make it versatile across vocals, guitars, drum overheads, piano, brass, and strings.
The all-brass K67-style capsule provides top-end brilliance without sacrificing warmth in the lower mids or presence in the upper mids. Looking at the frequency response, the WA-67 blends chewy midrange warmth associated with vintage tube microphones with the clarity of the original capsule design. This combination produces the "vintage meets modern" tone that made 67-style microphones a studio standard from the early 1960s onward, heard on recordings by artists across rock, pop, folk, and classical genres.
Three polar patterns (cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8) allow the WA-67 to adapt to different recording situations, from close-up vocals in cardioid to ambient room capture in omni. The -10 dB pad provides additional headroom for louder sources like drum kits and horn sections, while the 80 Hz high-pass filter removes low-frequency rumble before the signal reaches the preamp.
