Description
The Warm Audio WA-44 Bundle pairs the WA-44 studio ribbon microphone with the Warm Lifter inline active preamp. The WA-44 is a figure-8 ribbon mic inspired by the RCA 44BX, featuring a 99.1% aluminum ribbon, neodymium magnet, and CineMag USA transformer for warm, vintage tone. The Warm Lifter adds 26 dB of clean gain for low-output ribbon and dynamic mics, with a selectable 100 Hz high-pass filter and a 3 kHz high-shelf boost for added clarity on darker microphones.
Ribbon microphones produce a naturally lower output level than condensers, so pairing the WA-44 with the Warm Lifter solves the gain challenge at the source. The Lifter's phantom-powered inline design sits between the microphone and preamp, boosting the signal before it reaches the mixer or interface. This reduces the need to push preamp gain to its limits, keeping noise low and preserving the WA-44's full frequency detail. The selectable high-pass filter at 100 Hz is useful for taming the WA-44's pronounced proximity effect when recording up close.
