Description
Designed for stereo recording and multi-microphone work, the JUDE-MP2 delivers two independent channels of authentic Sound Techniques tone in a 1U rackmount format. Ideal for stereo acoustic instruments, drum overheads, piano, orchestral recording and professional studio sessions, it offers the same celebrated circuitry with the flexibility modern engineers need.
The JUDE preamps are authentic reproductions of the original Sound Techniques “A-Range” console microphone preamps that helped define the sound of legendary recordings at London studios such as De Lane Lea and Trident. Created in direct partnership between Sound Techniques and Warm Audio, JUDE delivers the exact microphone preamp circuit Geoff Frost designed for those consoles: dual-discrete 3035 Class-A amplification, Frost’s proprietary Z-Match impedance circuit, custom-spec CineMag USA transformers and hand-wired construction. It is the depth, punch and musicality heard on classic recordings by David Bowie, Elton John, Queen and several Beatles recordings, “Hey Jude” among them.
Every JUDE channel preserves the complete A-Range signal path. The 9-position Z-Match control sets the relationship between microphone and preamp, giving nine distinct tonal interactions that shape gain, transient response, frequency balance and harmonic character with virtually any microphone. Switch the Z-Match to its 10 kΩ position and the preamp matches modern interface outputs, so tracks and stems can be run through it for added analogue character. Wima and Nichicon audio-grade capacitors, carbon resistors and custom CineMag USA transformers complete the build.
