Description
The Universal Audio Volt 876 is a 1U rackmount USB audio interface with eight mic preamps, built for recording a full band. Each preamp has a Vintage mode inspired by the UA 610 tube preamp and an analog 76 Compressor based on the 1176, and conversion runs at up to 32-bit/192 kHz. Sixteen channels of ADAT I/O bring it to 24 inputs and 28 outputs, and it can link with two more Volt 876 units or work as an eight-channel preamp expander for an Apollo or other ADAT interface.
Vintage Preamps and 76 Compressors
Vintage mode switches on per channel and uses UA's tube emulation circuitry to add the warmth and presence of the 610 console preamp to mics, line sources and instruments. The 76 Compressor runs at a 6:1 ratio with three presets: VOC for voice, GTR for guitar and FAST for drums. The preamps are digitally controlled, so Assistive Auto-Gain sets levels and the UAD Console app or LUNA saves and recalls every front-panel setting.
Monitoring and Connections
The front panel holds two mic/line inputs with switchable Hi-Z for guitar and bass, a talkback mic with a Dim/Talk button, and two headphone outputs with their own volume controls. The rear carries six more combo inputs, eight balanced line outputs with alternate speakers on outputs 3-4, two ADAT inputs and outputs, word clock in and out, and 5-pin MIDI In and Out. UAD Console adds two low-latency cue mixes with talkback. The Volt 876 runs on AC power through an IEC inlet and comes with rack ears and rubber feet for rack or desktop use.
