Description
The Universal Audio Volt 1 is a 1-in/2-out USB audio interface for recording one source at a time, whether that is a vocal, an acoustic or electric guitar, a podcast mic or a synth. Its single combo input takes a microphone, a line source or an instrument, and the Vintage button adds an analog preamp circuit inspired by UA's 610 tube console preamp. Conversion runs at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, and the interface runs on USB bus power from your computer.
Vintage Preamp Mode
Because Vintage mode is an analog circuit ahead of the converter, its 610-style tone becomes part of the recorded track. It is available on mic, line and instrument sources. The preamp has 55 dB of gain, switchable 48 V phantom power for condenser microphones and an INST button that sets the input up for a guitar or bass.
Monitoring, MIDI and Software
Direct monitoring sends the input straight to the headphone and monitor outputs, so you hear yourself without delay while tracking. MIDI in and out on 5-pin DIN connect a keyboard, synth or drum machine without a separate MIDI interface. Volt 1 comes with UA's LUNA recording software and a set of UAD plug-ins for recording and mixing.
