Two Notes Captor X Pro Multi-Impedance Reactive Load Box

The Two Notes Captor X Pro is a 150 W multi-impedance reactive load box, programmable passive attenuator and stereo DI for 4, 8 and 16 ohm amplifiers, developed in partnership with Ampete Engineering. It is the flagship of the Captor family and pairs the load with Torpedo processing: True Stereo DynIR cabinet simulation, a Virtual Load Shaper and effects loops before and after the DSP. Play an amp at its sweet spot through a cabinet at a manageable volume, or in full silence for recording and direct feeds to a PA.

Two Notes expects the Captor X Pro to reach dealers in early 2027.

Load and Attenuation

The load takes amplifiers up to 150 W at 4, 8 or 16 ohms from one unit. Three voicings change how the amp feels against it: Reactive Natural follows the impedance behaviour of a real speaker cabinet, Reactive Presence gives more top-end definition with a more subdued resonance peak, and Resistive has a flatter impedance curve and a warmer character. The programmable passive attenuator uses an auto-transformer design with 13 attenuation levels, plus mute and full speaker level.

True Stereo DynIR and Virtual Load Shaper

The DynIR engine runs two microphones or static IRs placed independently across the stereo field, or in Dual Mono with each microphone routed to its own output with separate mic and post-FX chains. It ships with the Series-C collection of 24 DynIR virtual cabinets, each with 8 microphone models, and 12 studio-grade room simulations. A static IR loader holds up to 512 custom IR files. The preset-based Virtual Load Shaper applies impedance curves after the load to tighten the low end, add weight or push the attack forward in the direct tone.

Routing and Control

A mono pre-FX loop and a stereo post-FX loop place outboard effects before or after the Torpedo processing. The pre-FX return doubles as a line input for external preamps and modelers, and the pre-FX send can serve as an unprocessed amp DI. Balanced stereo XLR Line/DI outputs, a headphone output, MIDI in and USB-C cover stage, studio and silent practice. A color display, quick-access buttons and two rotary encoders reach every parameter and 128 presets from the front panel, and Torpedo Remote edits the unit over USB or wirelessly on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
