Description
The Tascam VS-R264 is a half-rack live-streaming hardware encoder/decoder that simultaneously encodes, streams, records, and decodes Full HD (1920x1080p) video using the H.264 codec. Designed as a stand-alone unit that requires no external computer, the VS-R264 provides stable, long-duration streaming for corporate, education, house-of-worship, government, and entertainment AV installations.
Streaming and Protocols
The VS-R264 supports up to eight simultaneous streams: three RTMP/RTMPS, one RTSP, one HLS, two RTP/UDP unicast, and one RTP/UDP multicast. Compatible with YouTube and other CDN platforms, it uses H.264 long GOP encoding with bit rates from 500 kbps to 30 Mbps over standard Gigabit Ethernet. A RESTful API (V2) enables integration with professional control systems.
Recording
Record directly to SD/SDHC cards, USB drives, or 17 GB of internal storage in MPEG2-TS or MP4 format. Automatic FTP upload sends recorded files to a network server for backup or repurposing. A continuous recording mode automatically deletes the oldest files when storage is full.
Audio Integration
Balanced Euroblock and unbalanced 3.5mm stereo mini-jack audio inputs and outputs support professional and consumer audio levels. Audio can be embedded from analog sources into the HDMI stream or de-embedded from HDMI for local playback. Reference level switching supports up to +20 dBu for professional installations.
