Tascam US-16x08 16-In/8-Out USB Audio/MIDI Interface

The Tascam US-16x08 is a 16-in/8-out USB audio and MIDI interface that captures up to 16 channels simultaneously at up to 24-bit/96 kHz. Eight Ultra-HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) mic preamps with an EIN of -125 dBu deliver clean, low-noise recordings, while an additional eight TRS line inputs (two switchable to instrument level) round out the input count. An angled desktop design and included rack ears offer flexible placement options.

Inputs and Preamps

Eight rear-panel XLR mic inputs with switchable +48V phantom power handle condenser and dynamic microphones alike. Two front-panel TRS inputs switch between line and instrument level for direct guitar and bass recording with up to 56 dB of gain. Six additional rear-panel TRS line inputs are switchable between -10 dBV and +4 dBu levels, supporting both consumer and professional sources.

DSP Mixer and Outputs

Powered by an Analog Devices BlackFin DSP, the onboard mixer provides 4-band EQ, low-cut filter, and compressor on each input channel for latency-free monitor mixing. Up to 10 mixer snapshots can be stored and recalled. Eight balanced 1/4" TRS line outputs and a front-panel headphone output with independent volume controls handle monitoring duties. A digital patchbay routes any signal to any output.

Standalone Mic Preamp Mode

When powered on without a USB connection, the US-16x08 functions as an independent 8-channel mic preamp, passing mic inputs directly through the Ultra-HDDA preamps to the eight line outputs.
