Description
The Tascam Series 8p Dyna is a 1U rackmount 8-channel microphone preamplifier and A/D converter with a single-knob analog compressor on every channel. Featuring Tascam's HDIA (High Definition Instrumentation Architecture) preamp design with an EIN of -127 dBu and support for sampling rates up to 192 kHz, it serves as a premium front-end for recording interfaces, a stand-alone mic preamp rack, or an expansion unit for Tascam Series 102i/208i and other ADAT/S/MUX-equipped interfaces.
Preamps and Compression
Eight HDIA preamps on XLR/TRS combo jacks deliver transparent, natural sound with 52 dB of gain range and individually switchable +48V phantom power. Channels 1-2 include front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs. Each channel has its own single-knob analog compressor (2:1 ratio, 40 dB threshold range) with true hardware bypass, handling hot input signals and creating smooth, controlled audio without digital processing artifacts.
Digital Outputs
Dual S/MUX optical ports output all 8 channels at 44.1/48 kHz, or 4 channels per port at higher sample rates via S/MUX2 (88.2/96 kHz) and S/MUX4 (176.4/192 kHz). A 25-pin D-Sub connector provides 8 balanced analog line outputs, and eight individual 1/4" TRS jacks offer direct channel access. Word clock I/O (BNC, with IN/OUT/THRU switch and 75-ohm termination) ensures perfect synchronization with other digital equipment.
