Tascam Portacapture X8 32-Bit Float 8-Channel Multitrack Field Recorder

The Tascam Portacapture X8 is an 8-channel 32-bit float portable field recorder with a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, detachable 14.6mm stereo condenser microphones, four XLR/TRS inputs, and an 8-in/2-out USB-C audio interface. Designed for podcasters, musicians, filmmakers, and field recordists, the Portacapture X8 records up to 8 tracks (6 inputs + stereo mix) at sample rates up to 192 kHz.

32-Bit Float Recording up to 192 kHz

Premium dual A/D converters deliver 32-bit float recording at 44.1, 48, 96, or 192 kHz, providing a dynamic range that eliminates the need for manual gain optimization. Audio can be adjusted extensively in post without quality degradation. The internal normalize function automatically levels the stereo mix file after recording.

Detachable 14.6mm Microphones

The largest built-in microphones in TASCAM's portable recorder lineup (14.6mm diameter) attach and detach from the main unit to form A-B or true X-Y stereo configurations. This flexibility lets you choose between wide spatial imaging and tight, phase-coherent capture.

Touchscreen Launcher System

The 3.5-inch color touchscreen provides smooth navigation through the Launcher system, offering optimized presets for podcasts, music, voice, field recording, ASMR, and multitrack sessions. The interface minimizes setup time so you can focus on the recording itself.

Professional Inputs

Four XLR/TRS combo inputs with HDDA preamps (EIN -126 dBu) and selectable phantom power support professional condenser microphones and line sources. A 3.5mm EXT input with plug-in power connects additional sources. USB Power Delivery support allows phantom power on all external inputs simultaneously when running on USB bus power.

USB-C Audio Interface

Functions as an 8-in/2-out USB-C audio interface (24-bit, 32-bit float) streaming all inputs to a computer simultaneously. Ideal for multi-source live streaming via OBS, podcast recording to DAW, or direct narration for video editing. Internal recording runs simultaneously with USB audio.
