Description
The Tascam MZ-223 is a 2U rackmount zone mixer designed for fixed installations in hotels, restaurants, meeting rooms, schools, houses of worship, and retail spaces. It provides five stereo input channels (10 RCA pairs total) with A/B source selection, two front-panel mic inputs with XLR/1/4" combo jacks, and three independent zone outputs, each with balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors. Familiar slider controls and per-channel 3-band EQ make operation straightforward for non-technical staff.
Inputs and Routing
Five stereo line input channels each offer two pairs of RCA inputs with A/B source selection, a volume slider, and output routing buttons for assignment to any combination of the three zones. Channels 1 and 2 include a switchable phono preamp for turntable connection. Two front-panel mic inputs (combo XLR/1/4") with independent volume controls, 3-band EQ, and output select buttons handle announcements and paging. The Talkover function automatically ducks background music when a microphone is active.
Outputs
Three zone main outputs provide both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors, each with a dedicated volume control, 3-band EQ, and LED level meter. A separate monitor output (RCA) and headphone output (1/4") with level control allow pre-fader monitoring of input channels and outputs.
