Description
The Tascam FR-AV2 is a compact 2-channel 32-bit float field recorder with built-in timecode generation, designed as a complete audio solution for videographers and filmmakers. It combines Ultra HDDA preamps (EIN -127 dBu), dual XLR/TRS inputs, and up to 192 kHz recording in a rugged, camera-mountable enclosure that weighs just 267 grams with batteries.
32-Bit Float Recording
Dual A/D converters capture audio with 32-bit float precision at 48, 96, or 192 kHz. The wide dynamic range eliminates the risk of clipping and noise, so you can focus on video production rather than monitoring audio levels.
Built-In Timecode
The FR-AV2 generates and reads SMPTE LTC timecode via a 3.5mm TC IN/OUT jack, supporting frame rates from 23.98 to 30 fps. A high-accuracy TCXO (temperature-compensated crystal oscillator) ensures ultra-precise sync even in varying temperature conditions. Jam-Sync with external timecode devices and wireless sync with Atomos UltraSync BLUE (via optional AK-BT2) are supported.
Ultra HDDA Preamps
Two XLR/TRS combo inputs with Ultra HDDA preamps provide exceptionally clean amplification with an EIN of -127 dBu. Selectable +24V or +48V phantom power accommodates a wide range of condenser microphones. A 3.5mm stereo Camera/EXT input with plug-in power (+2.5V/+5.0V) connects wireless receivers and lavalier mics.
Wireless Monitoring and Control
With the optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter, you can wirelessly monitor audio, sync timecode, and control multiple FR-AV2 and DR-10L Pro units via the free TASCAM Recorder Connect app (iOS, iPadOS, Android).
USB-C Audio Interface
Functions as a 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface supporting 32-bit float for Mac, Windows, and iOS devices. Connects directly to an iPhone for professional mobile video production with XLR-quality audio and timecode.
