The Tascam DR-05XP is a 2-channel portable handheld recorder with 32-bit float recording technology and built-in omnidirectional condenser microphones. 32-Bit Float Recording

With dual A/D converters and 32-bit float recording at up to 96 kHz, the DR-05XP captures audio across an enormous dynamic range. Recordings that are too quiet can be boosted in post without introducing noise, and signals that peak beyond 0 dBFS remain distortion-free. There is no need to set gain levels before recording.

Built-In Omnidirectional Microphones

The onboard condenser microphones are arranged in a fixed A-B stereo configuration, providing a wide, natural stereo image. They handle sound pressure levels up to 125 dB SPL, suitable for everything from quiet dialogue to loud live performances.

External Input and Output

A 3.5mm stereo mini-jack input accepts mic-level or line-level signals and can supply plug-in power for lavalier microphones. The 3.5mm output serves as both a line output (for feeding camera audio inputs) and a headphone output. A built-in mono speaker allows quick playback monitoring.

USB Audio Interface

Connect via USB-C to use the DR-05XP as a 2-in/2-out USB audio interface or USB microphone with Mac, Windows, and iOS devices. The unit also functions as a USB card reader for fast file transfers.
