Description
The Tascam AE-4D is a compact half-rack Dante converter that bridges AES/EBU digital audio and Dante networks. Part of the Tascam Dante Compact Processor Series, it converts 4-channel AES/EBU input signals to Dante output or 4-channel Dante input to AES/EBU output, making it straightforward to integrate AES/EBU equipment into any Dante system.
AES/EBU to Dante Conversion
The AE-4D provides 4 AES/EBU inputs and 4 AES/EBU outputs alongside 4 Dante input/output channels. A built-in sampling rate converter on the AES/EBU inputs accepts sources from 32 kHz to 192 kHz, allowing different AES/EBU devices to coexist on a single Dante network without clock conflicts.
Built-In DSP and Matrix Mixer
The onboard DSP includes level control for converting between AES/EBU and Dante signals. A matrix mixer and effects processing allow small-scale systems to operate using only Dante Compact Processor Series units, without a separate mixing console.
PoE and Flexible Installation
The AE-4D supports Power over Ethernet (PoE Class 0), eliminating the need for a separate AC adapter. Included installation brackets allow surface mounting under desks or on walls. Two units can share a single 1U rack space using the optional AK-RS1 shelf. Dante daisy chaining lets two units connect without a network switch.
Remote Control Software
Two free control applications are available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. TASCAM DCP CONNECT provides full system configuration including routing, DSP, and scene management. TASCAM EZ CONNECT offers simplified controls for end users such as volume adjustment. Up to 50 scene presets can be stored and recalled.
Network Compatibility
The AE-4D is compatible with Dante Domain Manager for security and wide-area network support. AES67 mode enables interoperability with AES67 and Ravenna-based systems.
