Description
Tommy Bolin, known for his work with Deep Purple, James Gang and Zephyr, played a 1960 Les Paul known as the Bolin Burst throughout his career. Joe Bonamassa bought the guitar after a 10-year search, and the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop reverse engineered its original P.A.F. humbuckers to make this set.
Alnico 2 magnets give the set a sweet vintage voice. The bridge pickup sounds dynamic and barky, and the neck pickup is warm and clear, especially through an overdriven amp. The pickups are unpotted, with vintage-correct long-leg construction. Part of the proceeds from each set goes to the Tommy Bolin Endowment and the Tommy Bolin Memorial Fund.
