Description
The Lipstick Tube Strat uses the same materials and construction as the Seymour Duncan Lipstick Tube for Danelectro, modified to drop into any standard Strat pickup slot. It combines Strat bounce with Dano crispness: the tone is sharp and jangly for clean rhythm playing, and leads break up with a snarly grit when overdriven. It suits country, pop, surf, rockabilly, blues and classic rock.
This is the middle pickup, reverse wound and reverse polarity (RWRP), so it cancels hum when combined with the neck or bridge pickup in positions 2 and 4 on a five-way switch. The Danelectro-style Lipstick Tube cover is slightly reduced in size to fit a Strat slot, and the bracket is modified so it mounts like any other Stratocaster pickup. It works well in ash, alder or basswood bodies, including hollow and semi-hollow bodies, and with rosewood fingerboards.
