Description
Blackouts for Strat are active pickups that give hot, hum-free sound in a drop-in single-coil size. They are voiced for heavy rock and metal and also handle clean pop and funk. Their strong active signal drives high-gain amps and long effects chains, from crushing power chords and searing leads to sparkling, compressed cleans.
A dual-pin jumper on the underside sets two output modes. With the jumper removed, output is moderate and close to a passive pickup. With the jumper in place, output is boosted to match full-size Blackouts humbuckers. You can also wire the pins to a mini switch or push/pull pot for an onboard boost. This is the bridge model (AS-1b) in black. It gives a heavy crunch for power chords and screaming harmonics for leads.
