Description
The Alnico II Pro (APH-1) is a vintage-output humbucker built around an Alnico 2 bar magnet. The magnet's soft treble attack and low string pull, with a vintage-output coil wind, give a warm, smooth tone with natural sustain that responds closely to pick attack. It suits blues, classic rock, jazz and slide, and players who get their drive from the amp. Slash used these pickups on Appetite for Destruction.
The APH-1b is the bridge model in standard humbucker spacing, with a raw nickel radiator cover over gold mesh. Its highs are articulate and smooth and its lows warm and spongy, and with a high-gain tube amp the overdriven tone stays expressive.
