Description
The Royer CS-25 is the replacement cable set for the SF-24 stereo active ribbon microphone, the same two-part set the mic comes with. A 25 ft 5-conductor extension cable runs from the SF-24's 5-pin XLR output to a splitter, and the splitter divides into two 3-conductor leads with male 3-pin XLR connectors marked Upper and Lower, one for each ribbon element.
Wiring
The SF-24 uses a standard 5-pin XLR layout: pin 1 is the shared ground, pins 2 and 3 carry the upper ribbon, and pins 4 and 5 carry the lower ribbon. The SF-24 needs 48 V phantom on both channels, at least 4 mA each, and the set carries it from the preamp to the mic. Royer tells SF-24 owners to use this five-lead stereo cable and to avoid extension cables of unknown wiring.
