Description

The Hohner Collection for Pianoteq features four iconic Hohner® keyboard instruments: Electra-piano, Clavinet D6, Pianet N, and Pianet T. These electro-mechanical pianos, manufactured by Hohner from the early 1960s to the early 1980s, shaped the sound of countless hit records, including I Am the Walrus by The Beatles, She’s Not There by The Zombies, Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, and Superstition by Stevie Wonder. The Hohner Collection is tested and authorized by Hohner.

In the Electra-piano, forks are struck by hammers, and their vibrations are converted electronically and transmitted to a transistorized amplifier. The Clavinet D6 produces sound as strings are struck by small rubber tips and pressed onto an anvil, with two pickups amplifying the vibrations. In the Pianet N, reeds are plucked using electrostatic pickups and leather/foam pads, while in the Pianet T, silicone rubber pads pluck the reeds, giving a mellower, signature seventies sound. All instruments benefit from Pianoteq 9’s new audio engine, which enhances spatial depth and adds a rich, evolving quality to the tones. Refreshed Binaural presets further improve headphone playback, offering immersive and authentic electro-mechanical sound.
