Description
Pianoteq is an award-winning physically modelled virtual instrument that reproduces the playability, resonance, and expressive nuances of real acoustic instruments. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and even on select ARM-based boards such as the Raspberry Pi. Pianoteq operates both in standalone mode and as a plug-in in VST, AAX, and AudioUnits hosts. Its tiny file size allows fast installation and minimal system load, making it suitable for laptops and high-performance studio setups alike.
Version 9 introduces an enhanced soundboard model that delivers richer stereo imaging, greater spatial depth, and a highly organic, evolving tone. All grand pianos have been meticulously revoiced for maximum realism and expressiveness. The expanded sound palette includes cinematic Sombre presets, delicate Felt presets for historical instruments, and updated Binaural modes for immersive headphone listening. Electric pianos, including MKII and Reeds, respond dynamically across the keyboard, providing expressive, nuanced performance.
We have collaborated with world-renowned piano manufacturers — Steinway & Sons, Steingraeber, Bechstein, Blüthner, Grotrian, and Petrof — who have all approved the sound and playability of their physically modelled concert grand pianos in Pianoteq.
Taking full advantage of physical modeling, a morphing feature lets you combine multiple instruments to create unheard, organic sounds. Pianoteq Pro expands upon Standard’s capabilities with professional-grade tools, enabling unprecedented control over the piano’s character and performance.
Extraordinary Sound Shaping
Pianoteq Pro allows control of up to 30 physical parameters per note, covering hammer hardness, string length, duplex scaling, soundboard stiffness, and more. These parameters allow musicians and engineers to achieve results that would otherwise require weeks of work on a real piano. Users can morph multiple instruments together or layer them to create complex, evolving textures. Thousands of editable overtones let you refine the harmonic content of every note, opening up entirely new creative possibilities.
Microphones Setting
Pianoteq Pro includes a fully redesigned 3D microphone panel, supporting up to 8 microphones placed anywhere around the instrument. Fifteen directional microphones from well-known brands are modelled, greatly expanding the palette of available sound colours. A streamlined mixer allows combining microphones into multiple outputs, with independent level, pan, and delay control.
In Binaural mode, a virtual head model simulates how a listener perceives sound in real space. The head can be rotated, positioned, and resized, allowing precise headphone monitoring. Pro’s microphone and mixing tools are ideal for professional recording engineers working in both stereo and multi-channel setups.
High-Fidelity Audio
Pianoteq Pro supports audio rates up to 192 kHz, ensuring studio-grade precision and clarity. All adjustments, morphing, and layering are fully compatible with high-resolution audio workflows, making it suitable for professional production, mastering, and cinematic scoring.
Presets from the FXP Corner
Pro users can access all presets created by Standard and Pro users in the FXP Corner. This includes instrument settings, morphs, and microphone configurations — all of which sound identical across Pro and Standard, ensuring compatibility and sharing across projects.
