Description
The Moog Grandmother is a 32-key semi-modular analog synthesizer that ships fully wired for instant sound — no patch cables required — but exposes 41 patch points for deep integration with Eurorack and Moog's own modular ecosystem. Dual analog oscillators, a 24 dB/octave Moog ladder filter, a built-in spring reverb, and a 256-step sequencer/arpeggiator make it a complete, self-contained Moog with the latitude to grow with your rig.
Sound Engine
Each of the two analog oscillators offers selectable waveshapes (triangle, sawtooth, square, pulse with PWM) and can be hard-synced for classic biting lead tones. The signature 24 dB/oct lowpass ladder filter runs from 10 Hz to 20 kHz, while a patchable 1-pole highpass filter sits in the patchbay for additional shaping. A dedicated analog LFO can be driven into audio-rate territory for FM-style modulation effects.
Built-In Spring Reverb & Sequencer
A genuine hardware spring-reverb tank lives under the chassis — splashy, surf-flavored, and patchable into the audio path for instrumental processing as well as synth duty. The onboard sequencer holds up to 256 notes per sequence across three memory slots; the arpeggiator runs alongside, and both can be clocked internally or from external CV/MIDI. A single ADSR envelope generator handles the VCA and filter duties.
Modular & MIDI Integration
The 41-point patchbay (21 inputs, 16 outputs, and a 4-jack passive mult) lets the Grandmother slot into any modular setup, and it pairs naturally with the Moog Mother-32, DFAM, and Subharmonicon for a complete semi-modular system. MIDI In/Out/Thru on 5-pin DIN plus USB MIDI handle DAW and hardware controller workflows.
