Description
The IsoAcoustics GAIA I is a single machined stainless steel isolation foot for large floor standing speakers and subwoofers, sold individually to extend an existing set, replace a damaged foot, or support a cabinet that needs an odd number of contact points. A full set of four carries up to 220 lbs (100 kg).
Isolation Design
On many isolation feet the metal housing rests directly on the floor, leaving a rigid path for vibration to travel regardless of what sits inside. On the GAIA only the lower isolator contacts the supporting surface, so all energy is routed through the internal isolator. The isolator resists lateral movement and oscillation to keep the speaker aligned with the listening position, and attenuates internal reflections coming back up the cabinet.
Installation
- Thread the isolator into the base of the speaker in place of the existing spike or foot, using the adapter that matches your speaker's thread.
- Position each isolator with the logo facing the listening position, or rotated 180 degrees, to align it with the speaker's motive forces.
- Lift the speaker into place rather than sliding it: the lower isolators are designed to adhere to the supporting surface.
- On thick carpet or carpet with an underpad, add GAIA I Carpet Discs (sold separately) so the GAIA I can connect to the solid floor below.
