Description
The Golden Age Project R1 MKII is a passive vintage-style ribbon microphone built around a 50 x 5 mm, 2-micron aluminum ribbon. It delivers the natural, smooth character associated with classic ribbons such as the RCA 44 and 77, with a figure-8 pattern that offers wide front and rear sweet spots and strong side rejection. At 160 dB max SPL it can sit in front of loud amps, brass, and drums without the fragility of many vintage ribbons, and it works well on vocals, acoustic instruments, strings, horns, orchestras, and choirs.
