Description
The Golden Age Project R1 Active MKIII is an active ribbon microphone that pairs a 50 x 5 mm, 2-micron aluminum ribbon with a bipolar/FET discrete buffer amplifier. Phantom-powered active electronics raise the output closer to condenser levels, isolate the ribbon and make-up transformer from the outside world, and let you run longer cables into virtually any 48V preamp. The figure-8 pattern delivers the classic large, mellow ribbon tone with smooth highs and extended lows, with enough SPL headroom for drums, amps, and overheads. The MKIII adds front-panel switches for a highpass filter and a -10 dB pad.
