Description
The Golden Age Project PRE-73 MKIV is a one-channel vintage-style microphone, line, and instrument preamplifier built around a discrete, transformer-balanced path inspired by classic 1073 console modules. Up to 80 dB of mic gain, an output level control, and a -14 dB output pad let you run clean or push the gain stages for color without slamming the next device in the chain.
Tone Shaping and Connectivity
Switchable 1200/300 ohm mic impedance, a two-position high-pass filter, and Air EQ (3 or 6 dB at 30 kHz) shape the top and bottom at the source. A front-panel Hi-Z input covers guitar and bass, an insert jack accepts outboard EQ or compression, and separate XLR and TRS outputs keep routing flexible. No ICs or surface-mount parts sit in the signal path; an external 24V supply keeps the PSU away from the transformers.
