Description
The Golden Age Project PRE-573 MKIII puts the PRE-73 sound into a single-width API 500-format module. Discrete electronics and a transformer-balanced floating output deliver up to 80 dB of mic gain, with active or passive DI modes, Air EQ, a two-position high-pass filter, and rear jumpers for insert and 600 ohm termination.
500-Series Flexibility
Gain spans about -10 to +80 dB (20 to 70 dB on the rotary switch plus +5/+10 dB). Mic impedance switches between 1200 and 300 ohms; Line mode drops level by about 30 dB and raises impedance to about 10 kOhm. The active DI (~1.5 MOhm) runs through the input transformer; a front switch can make the DI passive (~100 kOhm) into the second gain stage. Soft-start power ramping and a signal/overload LED support daily rack use. Pair with an EQ-573 for a compact 1073-style channel.
