Golden Age Project COMP-54 MKIII Vintage Style Diode Bridge Compressor

The Golden Age Project COMP-54 MKIII is a single-channel Class-A diode-bridge compressor inspired by classic 2254-style designs. The discrete signal path uses transformer-balanced line input and output plus a third interstage transformer. Stepped Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release (with two Auto release positions) make recall and stereo matching straightforward, while continuous Gain makeup sets output level.

Bypass, Insert, and Sidechain

True relay bypass removes the circuit entirely. A separate IN/OUT switch disables compression while keeping transformer and electronics coloration. Three selectable sidechain filter frequencies help with bass-heavy sources. An insert jack (placed before makeup gain on the MKIII) accepts a GAP EQ. Two units can be linked for stereo. A rear 600 ohm termination switch shapes the output tone. Transformers are prepared for optional Carnhill upgrade.
