Golden Age Project COMP-3A Jr Vintage Style Optical Compressor

The Golden Age Project COMP-3A Jr is a single-channel vintage-style optical compressor/leveler in a compact 1RU quarter-rack chassis. The discrete signal path uses transformer-balanced input and output. An integrated optocoupler handles gain reduction, with Gain Makeup and Gain Reduction as the two primary controls.

Timing and Sidechain

A three-position TIME switch selects attack/release combinations: A is the fastest (LA-3A-like), B is slower (similar to the full-size COMP-3A), and C is slower still. Internal jumpers can lengthen timing on B and C. A selectable sidechain high-pass filter (-3 dB at 250 Hz, 6 dB/octave) reduces low-frequency triggering. Hardwire bypass and a rear Link jack support A/B checks and stereo pairs.
