Description
The Golden Age Project COMP-3A is a single-channel vintage-style optical compressor/leveler with a fully discrete signal path and transformer-balanced input and output. Gain reduction uses a classic T4-style electro-optical attenuator with program-dependent attack and release. Two main controls, Gain and Peak Reduction, keep operation simple for vocals, bass, guitars, and mix bus leveling.
Controls and Metering
A sidechain HF control increases sensitivity to mid and high frequencies. The large meter switches between gain reduction and output level at two reference levels. Hardwire bypass, front-panel stereo link with a rear Link jack, and Normal/Mod gain options (with 50/30 switch) give practical studio flexibility. An internal jumper sets output transformer loading to shape the high end.
