Description
The Genelec 8341A is a mid-sized member of The Ones family — a 3-way SAM coaxial point-source monitor offering remarkable output and bass extension for its size. Its Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) driver places the midrange and tweeter concentrically on the same acoustic axis, eliminating inter-driver time-of-flight differences for coherent, phase-accurate reproduction. Combined with GLM room calibration, the 8341A delivers reference-grade monitoring for professional music production, post-production, and broadcast facilities.
Acoustic Design
- Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC): Coaxially mounted 90 mm midrange and 19 mm tweeter for true point-source imaging
- Dual oval bass drivers: Two 90 x 170 mm elliptical woofers provide powerful, controlled low-frequency output
- Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW): Maintains consistent frequency balance across the listening area
- Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE): Die-cast aluminium cabinet with curved geometry eliminates edge diffraction
- Iso-Pod stand: Decouples the monitor and allows tilt/orientation adjustment
SAM (Smart Active Monitoring)
Connected via GLM network (dual RJ45), the 8341A is individually calibrated using GLM software and a measurement microphone. Room response is analysed and corrected with up to 16 individual filters per monitor, compensating for room modes, boundary effects, and speaker-to-speaker variation. Level, distance delay, and subwoofer integration are managed automatically.
